President
- Arrange MMPEA Parent meetings with the Special Programs Coordinator
- Work with other MMPEA Officers and school administration in coordinating events that support parents, students, and teachers as described in our mission statement
- Conduct officer meetings which occur on a monthly basis
Vice President
- Work with officers in coordinating events that support parents, students, and teachers as described in our mission statement.
- Learn about the MMPEA in preparation for continuing to play a leadership role
treasurer
- Manages finances of the MMPEA
- Prepare income/expense reports for meetings
- Prepare information needed for taxes and insurance
- Write checks and deposit funds
Secretary
- Take minutes at meetings
- Document votes on appropriation of funds and other actions
Communications administrator
- Manage and update MMPEA Website
- Maintain and update MMPEA Facebook Page
- Broadcast information to MPS Montessori Parents
- Create & Maintain Semi-annual newsletter
School representative
- Each of the three schools has at least one representative
- Be a conduit of information between officers and parents
- Convey MMPEA information to your school administration
- Attend monthly MMPEA meetings
Volunteer positions
Volunteer Positions:
- Do not need to attend every board meeting (however everyone is always welcome and attendance is encouraged)
- Do not have voting privileges
Scholarship Coordinator
- Review scholarship applications from high school seniors to reach a consensus on winners
- Recommend choices to board for final vote
Committee coordinators & members
Several volunteer opportunities are available throughout the school year through MMPEA. Please consider helping out with any of the following:
- MMPEA Summer Picnic (July or August)
- Elementary and Middle School Orientation - Table set up at Back to School night. (August)
- Fall Parent Meeting (September)
- Winter Parent Meeting (February)
- MMPEA Mini-Conference (February)
- Community Night (March)
- Spring Parent Meeting (April)
